Looking for something a little different for the school holidays?

Welcome to my ever-popular Kids Sewing Club – a collection of small, friendly workshops where children aged 9 and over can learn to sew, make amazing projects, and build creative confidence they’ll carry with them for life.

At The Patchwork Shop kids sewing class, a woman guides a child’s hands on blue patterned fabric at a sewing machine, with another machine, fabric, and sewing supplies nearby in the classroom.

Taught by Kim Reynolds (that's me!): YouTube sewing teacher, Sewing Street TV presenter, City & Guilds-qualified quilting tutor, and Enhanced DBS-cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults. I make sure that every session is packed with fun, learning, and plenty of “I made this!” moments.

From tote bags, cushions and pencil rolls to scented lavender hearts and treasure pots, every project is carefully designed to teach new skills to your child/ren in a relaxed, fun and child-friendly way. Throughout the year, I also run festive makes and special gift workshops – perfect for Mother’s Day, Easter, or handmade Christmas surprises.

Children are welcome to bring their own sewing machine if they have one at home, it’s a great way to build confidence using their own kit! Don’t worry if not though, sewing machines are always available to use on the day.

All materials are provided, and every class is kept small (just 4 - 6 children per session depending on whether I have help or not) to make sure each child gets the time, attention, and encouragement they need.

Here's a video montage from a previous workshop (and don't worry, you get to give permission as to whether your child's photos appear in social media photos or not).

📍 Location

Workshops are held in Newent, Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester. Please check your desired workshop for specific location and venue.

💬 FAQs

What age are these workshops for?

Children aged 9 and up. This is because children below the age of 8 don’t tend to have the fine motor ability and attention span needed for sewing.  However, each child is different and if you’re unsure whether your child is ready, feel free to get in touch.

Do they need to bring a sewing machine?

No, all equipment is provided, but they’re welcome to bring their own machine if they’d like to learn how to use it.

Do you offer sibling or multi-workshop discounts?

Each workshop is booked separately, but please contact me if you’re booking multiple children or sessions; I’m always happy to help.

Can I stay during the session?

No, these are drop-off workshops designed to build confidence and independence in a safe and fun environment. Your child/ren will be eagerly looking forward to showing you what they have made when you come to pick them up!

What do they need to bring?

A packed lunch, a drink, and plenty of enthusiasm (oh, and a good night’s sleep beforehand please)!  I provide snacks, all materials, sewing machines (if needed), and expert tuition.

A Facebook post where Che Young thanks The Patchwork Shop for the kids sewing class, sharing her son’s enjoyment and new skills. Kim Reynolds replies, happy they learned to use an iron and sew on buttons.
