Needles
Whether you’re piecing quilt blocks, quilting layers, or working with a variety of fabrics, we have the perfect needle for every project.
Our needle selection is organised to make it easy for you to find exactly what you need. Explore Quilting Needles, designed for precise stitching and smooth results in both hand and machine quilting. Or discover the ideal needle for your fabric type in our Needles for Fabrics collection, where you’ll find needles to stitch everything from lightweight cottons to thicker layers and decorative threads.
Each needle in our collection is chosen for its high quality, durability, and ease of use, ensuring professional results every time.
Make sure you have chosen the correct needle for the fabric you are about to sew: please hit the chat button (bottom right) if you need some advice on selecting the correct needle.
Sewing machine needles need to be changed every 8 hours of sewing, or at the start of every project. If you find your machine is skipping stitches or making clunking noises, try changing your needle first. And remember the "flat to the back" (ie the flat of the needle faces away from you, towards the back of your machine).
YouTube Tutorials on Needles:
I have a YouTube tutorial on how to change your sewing machine needle here.
Check out this video on an easy way to thread your sewing machine needle or hand sewing needle.
This is my most popular video on why your needle keeps unthreading itself. There are six possible solutions here, so hopefully one will work for you.
This is a useful blog post on what the sewing machine numbers mean.
